If I give flowers as a birthday gift to a female friend(we are just friends!), could it mean anything else?

I mean, I want to give flowers to my friend for her birthday. We are not in a relationship whatsoever, nor do I dream of it. Could it mean anything else? Flowers are usually given by a boy who likes a girl, but I just want to give her flowers as a birthday gift. I don't want it to mean anything else. Is this a safe bet? Or do I just have to give her a different gift? Thanks for the useful answers!

1. I'm a girl, and if a guy who was just a friend and didn't had no relationship type feelings for me, then i wouldn't want flowers. Just being honest, i would want maybe a outfit, or money or maybe you can take her and one of your friends out to go bowling or out to eat or to the movies. Not a date, just something for her birthday. Maybe even ask her what she wants for her birthday, and get it for her if possible. The possibilities are endless.
