How to make flowers flower for tomorrow its my mothers 50th birthday!?

I have some flowers to give a part of a present for my ma's birthday, except they have opened out yet, they are still in there buds ( sorry about the terminology i'm not familiar with the subject :s) Is there anyway to make them open by perhaps adding something to the water? Thanks to all the answers they will be appreciated :D

1. it can't be open except by force cause its already cut, i don't know if there is any substance that you can put in the water to open it.
2. I'm almost positive it wont flower by tomorrow. Why not find a poem online about a mothers love and how love grows and tie that in with the flower.
3. Half 7up and half tap water. Put them in a vase with that mixture tonight before bed.
4. Gently rub your thumb over the top of the buds i promise they will open, works brilliant on roses,also warm water because most flowers have been frozen.x.
5. Besides some of the other suggestions, and since you didn't mention the type of flowers, I'd recommend heat. If it's a sunny day where you are set them in the sun and make sure it's stifling hot around them.
