Is it ever OK for a boyfriend to buy his girl best friend flowers on her birthday?

My boyfriend's best friend is a girl. I asked what he was going to get her for her birthday which is coming up and he a bath and body works gift card ... and FLOWERS. Am I being completely irrational or does anyone else think that flowers are an inappropriate gift because it's seen as a romantic gesture? I need some opinions here.

  1. ...well, flowers are example of sweet gifts...it is given to those who share a part in your life...and in your case, if I was on your shoes,,,it will be okay to me...like you've said it's his best friend... ...besides...it's only flowers, at least you have his sweetest gift---love...
  2. I understand where you're coming from, but flowers aren't really an inappropriate gift. Everyone gives flowers these days. Example: My boyfriend gives flowers to his mom for mother's day. My mom gives me flowers after i preform in a show. And for your birthday feel free to expect a better gift than flowers. If that's what he's getting his best friend, I hope he knows you should get something a lil extra. (also depending on how long you've been dating) Hope I helped a bit ;]
  3. My boyfriends best friend is a guy. I am my number 1 priority, my boyfriends number 1 priority is me, too. Making me happy is important to him; important to me too. If I found myself interested in a guy who had a girl for a best friend, I wouldn't date him, he'd have to break off with the girl pal first. Of course, I couldn't tell him to do that, but he'd get the unspoken message one way or other. So, he'd have to make a choice, which girl does he want more, the girl pal, or me? He can't have us both. I don't tolerate other women in my guy's life, I am his one and only... But that has to be understood b/f you and him start dating. I never get in a hurry to start dating a guy, I always inquire about things like, is he still carrying a torch for his old flame? Does he have a close girl pal? Does he have an alcohol/drug problem? Does he have a steady job and for how long? Has he ever been arrested and if so, why? Etc., etc., blah, blah, blah. See, I only date a guy if I'd consider marrying him or I never date a guy that I wouldn't marry. I choose carefully. I have few regrets. Still, just b/c I date a guy, doesn't mean I will marry him.
  4. I think its fine actually... they are friends, and friends do nice things for one another.
  5. its not like flowers = fuk
