What would a girl think about flowers for her birthday?

My girlfriend's birthday is coming up and its two days before Christmas. I got her a present for Christmas and she told me not to get anything for her birthday but i feel like i should be. Would she like flowers or not?? Cause i've asked some people and they don't really feel like flowers are a birthday kind of thing....but i thought it might be nice. What do you think?

1. Flowers are kind of a lame gift, while they're good for no reason spontaneously at times. The reason I say they suck for a gift is because they die in a couple of days, and they don't serve any kind of purpose. Get her a nice, small gift (sometimes when young girls say 'don't get me anything' they are full of it), and save the flowers for a random, 'I love you' kind of day in the future.
